My 637 in "Pocket carry mode" This was my dads old holster from the 70's that works well for pocket carry. Below that is the family.

My holster is a Stoner Holster... not terribly expensive, but made very well. Only thing I would change on it, is that in a flat bottom pocket, the gun is canted toward the front just a hair.... I just prefer 0 degree cant in pocket holsters.

Is that the 342 M&P in .38 spl +p?
if it is, I had one with the XS big dot on it, but got rid of it, and have been kicking myself ever since.

In steel j frames, not terrible, in aluminum frames brisk, and in scandium wickedly fun!
If you weren't so far away I'd offer to let you shoot a few full house mags through.

T-Star they can be pretty sporty with the heavier bullets. Mine are loaded with R-P 110 grain Low Flash Fed Spec Magnums.

A former S&W PR man told me that when the first J-frame .357's came out, he tried one. He fired one shot, thought, "That's not as bad as I thought it'd be", but by the time the 5th shot was gone, he thought, "Thank God that's over!"
As for 110 grain loads, can they possibly shoot to the sights? Will they penetrate well on big men or dogs?

I'm tempted to say that's a Don Hume pocket holster, but I have never seen them offer it in black?
Never mind....I just figured it out, it's a Stoner Holster; either Don Hume makes it for Stoner, or Stoner makes it for Don Hume.

Old picture, but it's a great gun.
Very rarely leaves my side and has some wonderful tritium nightsights that make it my go to home protection gun.

The Model 38-0 is my EDC, usually pocket carried in either an Uncle Mike's #3 or a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. The Model 638-1 is my Christmas present, so I won't get to carry that until after Christmas. I plan on carrying both at the same time - one in the pocket holster, the other in an inverted shoulder holster (Bianchi 9R), or in a belt holster. Both have the Crimson Trace LG-405 laser grips, and are loaded with standard velocity rounds.
Regards,
Dave

Remarkably, both of my 640-1s shoot dead on to the sights out to about 15 paces with this load. At 7 yards the first shot is always in the x ring. They do tend to wander with subsequent rounds, probably due to operator fatigue.
With regard to performance, the loading I am using is the last official USBP .357 Magnum issue. I've never had to shoot anyone (or their dog ) with it, but as I recall the load got pretty fair reviews by the Fed Users. Maybe not as good as the Federal 125 loads, but then again, the 125s are too much for me to use on a regular basis in these little guns...
The tactical niche that I use these guns for is to repel a potential carjacker so ranges will be short and I want devastating contact wounds. I suspect the 110 will serve that purpose well....

Stumbled on this thread. Some of the gunleather you guys are wearing are astonishing. You guess which ones are and why some others are not?

Here's my EDC gear-- either my vintage M36 or M60 (both bobbed hammer & pinned barrel), carried A-IWB in a cheapie Ace Case holster, along with a quick-strip in a belt pouch I made.

I have been looking at one of these for the easy on and off. I usually use a Galco Concealable. By chance would you know if it hides the same as a Fobus for the j frame?

obviously, the one on the left. The other is a Beretta Nano that I sometimes carry. It's actually a great pocket pistol and
very accurate.

This is my 342. It has been with me since the first year that they were made. It has thousands of miles on it riding in my patrol car, back when I did that kind of work. I have been working on cleaning up the original factory finish. It had lots of holster wear from use.

My 442 is usually in my pocket. I carried it in a De Santis holster until the 'sticky' wore off, now I'm using $10 Blackhawk Sportster from Wallyworld; not fancy but works well.

I just started testing my newly purchased 940 with Black Hills +P Barnes load. It's ... interesting, but I think it would be a good bug. I may have to learn to take it apart and send the cylinder to Headknocker; extraction takes a hell of a good pop on the rod end. I am using the CT LG405 grips on it, which help. I'm almost thinking of a right (off) hand cross draw for it.

.38 Special Model 640...just "downgraded" from the .357 Model 640-1. Carried either in an old Binachi Model 6 IWB or naked in a jacket/pants pocket.

EDC 642 here with the belt rig. Shown are the Gold Dot 135gr +p but it can also be seen frequently loaded with Rim Rock 158gr wide nose SWCs over 4.4 gr of HP-38.

I have one and tried to wear it today under a sweater instead of an IWB holster for PM9.......looked like I had a prosthetic hip on! My M49 almost rides sideways on mine.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess that would be one way of dealing with the ****** finish on the airweights. Once it gets to the point that it warrants attention (if you care about such things) I guess it'd be easy enough to spray the frame down with aircraft stripper and go to town with Mother's Aluminum polish. It would require a little maintenance I suppose, but a quick wipe down with Mother's on occasion would probably be fine.
