Default TRR8 cylinder release latch loose?

I recently purchased two new in box TRR8 revolvers and the cylinder latch on both of them is loose. One is so loose I can hear it rattle if I jiggle the firearm. Does anyone have one of these revolvers and can tell me if their latch is loose as well?

I have an older 686 revolver with no lawyer lock on it and the latch is solid.

I’ve also noticed on one of the TRR8s that the front rail also jiggles and cannot be tightened completely.

Should I bother sending these back or try and have a local gunsmith correct the problem?

Disappointing since these are supposed to be performance center models!

They are not "supposed to be performance center models," they ARE
Performance Center models.

No Company can produce 100% perfect products 100% of the time. I do not care how
much they charge you for it, things are going to slip by.

When a screw loosens on one of my firearms, I just tighten it. Not too big a deal.

I can not comment on the rails as I have never bothered installing them on mine.
Though it sounds like you may have gotten a set of screws that are too long.

Odds are the rattle that you are hearing is the hammer block.

If you call S&W they will probably mail you a new set of screws

just saw your post and wanted to add that my TRR8 also "rattles" when i shack it. I too thought the cyclinder release was the cause but I held it open and it still has the rattle. My 686's cylinder release is also loose (I can whiggle it up and down about the same as the TRR8) but no "rattle". I checked the screw and it's pretty tight, I definitely don't want to over tighten it.

Forgot to add that my front rail was also loose. The screws are to long so I added a small piece of packing foam as a gasket. Tightened up fine with no visible abnormilties.

The rattle you hear when shaking the gun is the hammer block moving inside the gun.If you shake almost any S&W you will hear it,It is 100% normal.

***! my new 629 pc has a loose clyinder latch too! I am comparing with my 686p. My 686 is no where near as loose. I just picked this gun up today and have plans for this gun. I was supposed to drop it off at the gun smith Tuesday to have work done to it. Now I don't know what to do
