Default New Guy in love with a 66. Hows it look?

New to the forum and looking for other S&W owners opinion. Shown is my 66-3 6". Does anybody else take the time to make them shine?

You'll have more fun getting that 66 dirty.

Your polishing job looks very well done - at first, I thought the gun was a nickel Model 19 and the thread title was incorrect. But most collectors prefer the original satin or brushed stainless finish. It just is a general feeling that older guns that are no longer in production should be and are worth more in as-new condition because there are no more new ones to be had.

But still - it looks good!

KEN
The gun looks great. Good job on it. Many will read you the riot act for polishing. Bottom line is, it's your gun and do as you please. Personally, I like them cleaned up.

Thanks to all. I know most collectors prefeer them in the satin or brushed as original. When I purchased it the original owner had started the polishing and didnt finish. I have no intention of selling it. So value doesnt matter much. I have a Python thats mint if I need to make a buck.
My process was Mothers Mag and Wheel polish, a bunch of rags, And countless hours rubbing her down. And a whole box of Q-tips. No dremel or buffer was used. Just thumbs.
And getting it dirty is the best part. Trigger break is smooth and very light. Light to the point of having concern. The break is SA is about 1lb. Much less than the python triggers that I am used to. But she doesnt go bang till I rub the trigger.
Thanks again for the opinions and complements.

Sir that is one gorgeous 66. I'm pretty religious as to keeping all my firearms factory original but yours makes it very tempting. Perhaps the search for another 66 in need of a rehab is in order. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, I would like to have a 66 thats NIB but they are few and far between. So I settled for one that was semi-polished. The original owner only did what was easy to get to. It looked pretty bad. Only thing not polished now is the sight rail. Its bead blasted with a very fine media. No visable glare when eyeing down the sights.

Love the look. On cold winter days, while watching TV, I'll usually be working on one of my SS revolvers with some Mothers Mag or Flitz. I'll post some pics when I get home from this road trip.

It looks good all shined up, but it would look a lot better covered in powder residue!

It is a stainless gun that the owner polished. Looks very nice.

It is stainless. I polished all by hand. Or should I say. thumbs. The grips are from ebay. Just spotted them and did a BIN. Cant remember who the seller was.
And to answer a previous question about rust. Try a Scotchbrite pad. Get the VERY fine grit. I think the standard color is green. Make sure you use smooth strokes all in the same direction. Do not go back and forth. It will create swirl marks if you do.
Thanks again everybody.
