Anybody use the Galco Speed Paddle Holster for a J-Frame?
I've been looking at the Galco Speed Paddle Holster for my 642. It looks like it rides high on the waste so that you could wear thick sweater or pull over and it won't show for CCW. I'm looking for few holster options, both pocket, IWB and OWB, and this Galco looks like a great OWB.
Anybody use this one? How does it fit the J-Frame. Any other recommendations? I want something that will fit decent without being rock hard and marring the finish.

I have one for my Colt Cobra. They are nice looking and well made. The only issue is they do not ride close to the body. Will work well with loose outer clothing, but not with just a shirt.

Will not work with a sweater or other pull over type shirt. They really hang out there...

The above posters are correct--the paddle will work for open carry, but you should try the Galco Concealable for concealed carry (no pun intended). Lobo on this forum makes a pretty nice concealment holster, too. I have one for my snubby M19 and it is a nice rig. Good luck.

You could also try the Galco Combat Master. It rides high and quite close to the body.

I have one and use it some. I agree that it does not ride close. With a jacket it's fine. I have just started using a Blackhawk leather belt OWB holster. Don't remeber the exact model (size 00), but I like it. I've had a Galco pancake for years and like it alot too.

Thanks for the info. I ordered one of these but I don't want one if they will stick out that far. I think the picture is a bit deceptive in that it only shows the profile view.
However, they are on back order, so I may be able to call and cancel my order before it ships.
Is there any other Galco models for the J-Frame I could possibly exchange this one for? I want something that is OWB, but that could be concealed with a pull over or sweater.

Thanks, this is what I want! I will call Galco and exchange the speed paddle for this one.

You also mentioned a pocket holster for your J frame. I highly recommend the Kramer pocket holster. I have carried a 442 for about 20 years in one and now am using it for my new 642. I have literally carried it every day since 1993 and it still has its form and has never been IDed.

I can highly recommend the Galco Concealable for carrying a J frame.
Edit to add: I see that you've decided on the Combat Master. That's another very good option.

Thanks, I will check out the Concealable as well, but I think I want the Combat Master.

Yes, I want a pocket holster as well. I bought a cheap Blackhawk for around $12 at Wally World, which is OK for now, but I doubt it would even last 5 years much less 20.
