custom shop mdl 66
I have a S & W custom shop- 3 inch, model 66, serial # cau0215 in 90% condition, rd butt, mag ported, that I carried when I was a detective. Still love the gun but was wondering what it would be valued today. Anybody have one? and know what its worth. I had a custom holster made for it so its still almost perfect (at least to me).

Glen,
Welcome to the Forum. Pictures always help in determining the value as condition is a major factor. Also helps to identify exactly what the item is. If you have the original box the information on the end label will be useful.

Price is tough due to the porting...some like it and others not so much. The 3" 66 has been around $800 or more for quite some time...I have seen them go for over $1000 on a few occasions...usually for the -2 or -3.
Any way you look at it leaves you with a beautiful 3" 66 which is the most sought after barrel length in a 66 out there.

I notice that on mine I have the stainless hammer and trigger and the OP`s has cased. I like cased better. The glow of the trilijon fron sight on mine dont glow anymore. Still, mine is one of my favorite`s. Mine has the factory compensator in front of the front sight. Probley is similar to the slotted portholes in theory but the front sight sits back farther for the hole. I also have a 2 1/2" python. They both are the best of each maker and shoot similar.

I have one that is also non standard, that I believe to be a Custom Shop Product.
Mine is a 3" 66-2.
ANA 753X
Factory Case Hardened DAO Trigger & Hammer WO/Hammer Spur. Trigger has Stop
Black Partridge pinned front sight. SS Pin finish matches barrel finish, and looks factory original.
Black Rear sight blade also looks factory original.
Chamfered Chambers.
Ball Loc with Oblong Ball. Not the common Round Ball.
Outstanding Trigger Job
Locks up like a Bank Vault.
The cylinder rotates like it is on roller bearings.
It came with a set of Antique Hogue Rubber Grips. They were not attached in the common manner. Instead of a Stirup attaching to the Grip Pin as on late model grips. This set up had the grip pin removed. The stirup straddeled the bottom of the grip frame, and had a Cylinder shaped aluminum attachment that went in the holes on the Stirup under the grip frame. This cylinder was drilled and threaded for the grip screw.
Anyway the old 66 is my favorite Concealed Carry revolver.
Bob
