Dating a Model 37
I just inherited a Model 37 J Frame .38 Special, serial number 255J19. Can anyone tell me when this gun was made?
Thanks in advance.

According to my SnW book, it would be 1971.

No problem. I've been doing a lot of looking lately at older Smiths, so I put all the j,k,L,n serial number info on my phone. It's a lot easier than carrying my huge book around.
