Default How did I do?

Hey all.

I have been browsing this thread for a while and finally joined after picking up my first S&W revolver.

I bought a 686-4. It is a 4" barrel, and came with original box, paperwork, a speedloader, a nice bianchi 3slot OWB holster.

I paid $540 otd with the transfer.

Opinions? Was this a fair deal or a great one. I didn't even know it was a dash 4 until I met the seller at the FFL to do the transfer. I was expecting a model with the IL.

I'll post a pick soon.

Also, as you can see in the pic, the cylinder has little black spots on the muzzle end of each chamber. Is there a way to remove these? I haven't cleaned it yet, but they seem pretty tough to wipe away ( if possible at all )

L frames are nice shooting revolvers. And live long lives.

The carbon can be removed easily with a "Lead-a-way" cloth. Won't hurt
the stainless at all. However...DO NOT use it on a blued weapon...

Nice find.

I'd say you did just fine. Nice gun. I've been using Adco E-Z Brite cloth to remove the carbon rings for 30 years. Works great. Probably other products tht work good also. I think Midway has the EZ Brite.

If I found that, it would have left with me as well...Should be a great shooter.

Default Bargain on beauty.

You didn't exactly steal it, but that is a very good buy. I have a 686 4" barrel and it is my favorite shooting revolver. Would love to pick up another but nice ones I have seen are usually pushing $700. I think you will love the way it shoots.

I'd call that a great deal, considering it came with a holster and the box and everything else. In NE Ohio I typically see 686's at $650 and up, though if you are patient and look you might find one for a scad under that.
