Default Polishing a Model 500

Probably sounds like a noobie thread but I'm not one.

I see lots of pictures of revolvers forum members have polished that look very nice but I have a question.

I had another 500 that I polished with Simichrome. It looked nice but for whatever reason it was actually harder to keep looking nice. Seemed that everything I did cleaning wise after shooting resulted in it having a smeared coating on it unless I went to extra steps to clean it off.

In case I haven't made my question clear, it just seemed that keeping it looking nice was harder than before the polish. Comments? Don
