Default S&W Model 627 Pro- Trigger Issue

Hey guys longtime lurker first-time poster.

I picked up a brand new 627 pro today and I love everything about it except the double-action trigger. The pull is smooth until the cylinder locks and then it feels like the trigger hits a brick wall and drastically increases the force necessary to drop the hammer. It feels like some Ruger hammers where you can stage the trigger. I would like it to be a continuous smooth pull from beginning to end.

Is this something that is normal with modern smith models?
Should I consult a gunsmith?

That sounds like hand-ratchet bind. It seems to be very common on Smiths these days. I have had some luck replacing the hand with one .002 smaller. If yours is really tight, it might require .003 smaller.
I like an early carry up and a smooth slide by, but that is sometimes hard to get just right. You will need some one who knows the inside of a Smith to change the hand.
