Default Question about serial #s on 625-5 Classic

I have a 625-5 .45 Colt Classic purchased new in '94. The serial number is not in the usual location above the model number but on the cylinder swing arm...Is this legit ?

Proabably some assembly number. It's not the serial #. If it's the last 3 digits of the serial # them it was used to keep the part with the gun once it was fitted.
