Smile pls help problem with 357 magnum model 586

hejsan

have a problem that I hope someone can help me with

bought a 357 magnum model 586 it is brand new used only once.
so one day when I would pick up the
so fell cylinder opener away from the place it sat on have not touched it or lost it or something weird. when you try to insert the screw into reverse again so it is not possible it is that the screw is broken '. should it be so small gap. just millimeters it and try to insert the screw on. screw goes the o swapped side but it does not matter.

what can you do? you have to open the entire gun?
do you think a screw is broken?

please help me

with kind regards

Are you referring to the screw that holds the cylinder latch in place, or the one that holds the yoke (arm that holds the cylinder itself) into the frame?

If the screw holding the cylinder latch was broken you should be able to see that right away.

Try fitting the screw and moving the latch, back and forth, until the screw starts in the hole in the frame.

The threads on the screw are pretty fine, so as old bear mentioned it may take a little wiggling of the latch and the screw to start tightening it onto the post that attaches the latch to the frame.

Tallola87, reading about your problem. I have a few questions, first: do you have the screw and the latch in hand?
Second: If you have the screw, look a the gun where the latch would set. Do you see a hole or is it smooth? If smooth then I would say the screw has broken, take it to the gun shop. If you can see the hole for the screw, try inserting the screw, without the latch. If the screw will thread in, without force, perfect. If force is required then the screw and/or the latch mount thread has been damaged, take this to the gunsmith.

If the screw threads into the hole, without problem then it should be easy to mount the latch and insert the screw. Might use a mild thread sealer to hold the screw inplace after it has been tightened.

Good Luck
