Default Traded a Wesson for a Wesson today

I think I did OK. I found a NIB 2 1/2 inch 686-6 Plus 7shot on line nearby. The ad stated sell or trade for long barreled Smiths. A short barreled .38/.357 was on my short list of wants. My gun fund is/was seriously depleted so I emalied about trading an 8 inch .22 rimfire DAN Wesson revolver.
The seller replied he was interested and we met today and made a trade. I kicked in a little cash to sweeten the deal. And we both went home happy.
The Dan Wesson was a very nice shooting gun. I hated to let it go but the 8 inch barrel was not to my liking. Buying a shorter barrel for the Dan Wesson was an option but kind of expensive for the return.
I shot the 686 this afternoon with some mild .38s and some full house .357s. I was pleasantly surprised how it shot with the .357s. Not the least bit uncomfortable. And the .38s shot very accurately.
Over all I am happy with the trade. Now to find a holster for carry. Pics when I get time.

Congrats on a very good trade. I have a 686-5 2 1/2", and recently bought a set of S&W combats and what a difference in looks and feel from the Hogue rubbers it came with. Very nice and accurate shooter. I don't have pics with the combats, but it looks similar to the Lew Horton offered in 1984. Enjoy.

I've got a 686+ and it's all my students favorite at my handgun classes. I'm thinking because it's the most accurate of all my handguns, but it might be because of what a 10 year old pistol student said when he shot it after shooting everything else..."It's SCARY, but I LIKE IT!"

I told him he'd be saying that a lot over the next 15 years. Dad laughed his arse off at that one.

i would have made that trade too. you will find the 686 to be a long lasting and versatile gun.
