Default Found my grail, kinda sorta

I've been a long time fan of J-Frames and 2 that I've always wanted are a 3" RB Model 36 and a model 60. Always figured they'd be 38 Special.

I was at the LGS Saturday picking up a 642. While I was waiting for my background check I wandered back to the revolver case, they had a 60-15. Tempting, but I'd just gotten the 642 (as a NY reload for my 638) and didn't feel like I should spend the money.

About half way home I had second thoughts about not getting it. Spent that night and Sunday reading everything I could find here about the Model 60 and 3" S&Ws in general. My OCD kicked in.

They closed shortly after I left on Saturday, were closed on Sunday, so I called first thing Monday morning. It was still there (such a relief ) so I had them put it aside and I ran over on my lunch hour and got it.

A 3" Model 60-15, fresh from S&W & 100 < MSRP.

I really love this thing. It hits all my sensibilities, all steel, stainless, adjustable sights .357 capable. With the factory grips on, it feels more like a K frame then a J

I have a ton of J-Frame 'stuff' most of my holsters won't work, got 3" versions of my favorites ordered. Picked up a DeSanti pancake when I got the piece, wore it all day and forgot I had it on.

two birds with one stone, and saves having to buy 2 handguns... for now.

I purchased Mrs. MC5AW a late production NIB Model 60 for her first revolver, and she will shoot nothing else. The 3" barrel and hi-viz sights are excellent, and the 60 is perfectly balanced. Yes, it has the IL ... no concerns there. The ONLY issue we've had with it is occasional binding up after excessive shooting and no cleaning. (I always try to get a sense of how many rounds can be fired in my revolvers without cleaning before problems arise). But under normal usage and with regular care, the 60 is near perfect.

It is a fine firearm that you will enjoy very much.
