Opinions on a 36-6
I've searched but not found much on the 36-6. Any thoughts out there? What would be a good price on one that's been fired but appears to be in great condition?

Years ago I had both the 36-6 and the stainless version 60-4. The 36-6 had a standard hammer spur rather than the semi-target wider spur on the 60-4, but otherwise they handled and shot about the same. A 3 inch target model J frame is a great combination. The 36-6 was made in small numbers (around 600-700 or so) and is rarely seen. I would think a current price would be in the $500-$600 range but it all depends on demand in a specific area.
Hope this helps.

That's a good question, as they are seldom seen. There were 615 MFG. in 1989. They are outstandingly accurate, and a perfect balance. The weight is negligible and make a perfect woods walk gun. Their only drawback is the finish is not very tough, and it does show wear fairly easily. My guess is if you can get one for under $600 in good condition you have a decent deal.

We sold several of those at the gun store where I worked back then - they went like hotcakes.

Thanks for the responses so far. There is one for sale locally that looks to be in good shape, has a turn ring on the cylinder with original box but no papers. Seller is asking $800 which I feel is too high....at least for me. More power to him if someone buys it at that price. If I'm going to spend that kind of money I'll put it toward a snub K frame.

You could look for a M-60-4. Stainless and easier to hide than a K-frame.
I checked with the factory and the stainless version IS Rated for Plus P ammo. The M-36-6 is not.
