Broken hammer nose on my new to me 629-4 MG
Well, I got my new to me 629-4 mountain gun out to the range for only the second time and fired another 30 rounds. All fired fine. I got home and found my firing pin was broken with the foremost part just sitting in the frame. I have now looked everywhere online to buy a new pin and rivet and no one has the parts. Anyone have a spare on hand for sale or point me to a source who may aside from S&W? I anticipate S&W will require the entire gun and will not sell me just the two parts I need.

Smith will sell you the parts. Also the gun parts corp and midway, lastly check out eBay. S&W will fix it but then you gotta ship it.

Are all N frame hammer noses interchangeable? Also, none of the online guys have them .I did check the ones you mentioned aside from S&W.

The exact same thing happened to me some years ago with my new 629-4 MG! I could not find the part anywhere. No one had that particular hammer nose!
When I spoke with S&W, I was told that they had had a problem with heat-treating that part. I sent the gun (the entire gun) back to them (at their expense) and received it back in a week or so.
The only problem is that I think that the factory is about to go on vacation!

My brother in law had one break too. There must have been some problem with the -4 guns, as, in general, hammer nose firing pins rarely break! He found his a Gun Parts.

Would another hammer assembly off a 29-6 be drop in fit on a 629-4?
