Or are people nuts? Why would I pay $49.95 plus $5.00 shipping for these grips,http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=366405576
When I can get these

For starters, they were some sort of special grips for a classic model of some sort. Note the checkering border and large diamond around the escutcheon. Different strokes...

Yep....you're missing something. Those on Gunpoker are the early diamond grips. They command much higher prices than the "recent" magna grips in either round or square butt. Same thing on e-bay.....they sell at a premium.

Take a closer look. The diamond gunbroker grips are not old magnas. They are new, and that pattern was never on old magnas. One might pay more for them because they like the different border, different checkering, the diamonds, and the more figured wood, though. Op, you're looking at two different grips. One costs more than the other because of the reasons I just stated. If you like the plainer, cheaper ones, there's nothing wrong with that. Just buy the cheap ones.

The diamond grips are current production made by Altamont W/S&W medallions 38.00+10.00 from the factory
