Default 629-8 picatinny mounts

Rescued one of these at a good price from a pawn shop. Other than needing cleaned, locks up solid, good timing, and barrel is aligned. Downside was the top/bottom picatinny were not included.

Sent an email to Smith about acquiring but noticed this model has been discontinued. Hoping they have some stashed in stock.

Thanks. I have an EGW scope mount, which replaces the rear sight. I think the factory mount still allows use of open sights.

Another option are the new LPA rear sights, which are slotted for a red dot.

No luck finding stock mounts, but will keep looking. Replaced the front sight with a HiViz. The stock front sight looks nice but it is all plastic and the HiViz is just a sturdier option. Installed one of the new RMR rear sights with built in dovetail from fusion. They're pricey but I've owed a couple and they are quality rear sights. The dovetail is the ticket for mounting a small red dot. I've found most do need tweaking a tad so body/blade are parallel to the frame else it may appear the blade has a slight cant. No biggie.
