Default Yoke shake on a revolver

I've have a bit of play in the yoke on a Model 10-7 revolver. Its just enough to cause the cylinder to slide past the stop at times. Is there an easy way or any way at all to fix this?

I don't mean to be mean, but am trying to save you from ruining an otherwise fine revolver.

Answer: If you have to ask, please send it back to S&W so the job will be done correctly.

Answer #2: Even if you don't have to ask (there will be a whole host of do-it-yourselfers who will come along and describe in words how they THINK it should be done, and maybe even what tool you need), still send it back to S&W.

It is, however, not a job for first-timers or amateurs or kitchen table gunsmiths or the boys at the LGS or the "Department Armorer" (a good one could have 35 years ago, but the days of armorers being able to work on revolvers are mostly over) or the shooting range "range officer."

Do yourself a favor. Send it to S&W and have them go over it and fix anything else they find while it is there. You will not be sorry.

Thanks Shawn. No way I was going to mess with it if it wasn't something simple. It's very slight and just resting a finger on the end prevents it from happening. The last thing I want to do is ruin it considering it's my favorite.

Gave it a really close look, found the issue. Looks like a worn spot in the groove where the retaining screw fits. Now I can at least tell S&W the exact problem. Rest of the gun is in perfect condition and always functioned fine. Just noticed this about a week ago. Really caught me off guard.

And why wouldn't I say thanks Shawn? You wern't being mean

Not quite the same problem as you but I've had a 28-2 at S&W for a month over a quarter circle (90 degrees) of the yoke button missing and gone.

You could open the cylinder and just slide the whole thing forward out of the frame.
