Default 27-3 50th Anniversary .357 Magnum Commemorative

I am seeking information on a 27-3 50th Anniversary .357 Magnum Commemorative model. Blue with gold inlay on the engraving. 5" barrel. Smooth S&W target grips. It's in the presentation case. Gun looks like it has been shot, but not much. It has a turn line, but it's otherwise pretty nice. Exterior of box isn't perfect if you're looking close. That's all it comes with. Anybody have any idea what this might be worth? Ballpark?

Is that the FBI Commemorative? 50th anniversary of the FBI being authorized to carry firearms (1984)? A coworker bought one here at the LGS 18 months ago for $600.00.

No, it's the 50th Anniversary of the .357 Magnum 1935-1985.

I have seen these advertised for $1500 in unfired condition, with boxes and paperwork. If it has been shot, it reduces the collector value significantly, down to near shooter status. The missing paperwork also reduce the value. A 5" 27 excellent condition should go for around $700-800, I would think.

Seller stated, "I have to get $750 for it". I am interested. My reservations are....

1) it's a -3, non-pinned and recessed.

2) I'm not much of a "Commemorative Gun" guy....to me, taking a gun like this to the range is a little gaudy. And, since it's already got a turn line, to me it's a "shooter", albeit a nice one.

Reasons I am interested...

1) I almost never come across nice Model 27s for sale.

2) I like the 5" barrel length on this gun.

3) It doesn't have "the lock", MIM parts, etc.

4) I do have a 13-3, so it wouldn't be my first non-P&R S&W.

5) I don't have a Model 27.

Hey, Colt Pythons aren't P&R....
