I just came into a super nice 686-4 with 8 3/8" barrel and Leopold base and rings. These look like 1" rings. I was wanting to use the 686 at the 50 yard range, perhaps as a camp gun or hiking sidearm among Eastern Oregon's sugar pines (I usually hike with a medium and large size dog) throughout old forest service roads that prohibit motorized vehicles of any type. A very remote possibility would be to hunt deer because my time may have passed to hunt due to age, etc.
My eyes are 65 years old and I usually wear corrective driving glasses while driving. I have an Ultradot Matchdot II on a Ruger Government--but the dot tends to blur at 50 yards.
Can some one recommend a solution to pick glass over a red dot or visa versa? If so, what specific models would you recommend? Thanks a lot for reading this post.
