Default Rare Find

Found a new model 60 3 inch Pro Series in ".38 Special +P" as marked on the barrel. Not sure how many of these they made like this that were not in .357. Since i would never shoot magnums in it anyway, i snapped it up. It has the tritium front blade night sight and nice wood grips exactly like the .357 version.
I will post pics soon. Anyone else seen one of these ??

It's not currently cataloged, perhaps it is one of a special production run or mis-stamped. A call to the factory may get you more information if no one else has seen one.

If it looks like this, there are a few on GunBroker well over $700, by the time you have it shipped to you.

I've watched a few of those, they never sell. The last low starting price/no reserve auction I watched sold at $527 from a well watched major dealer. I didn't even bother to bid on it at that price as a neutered version of a normal gun that I already have doesn't appeal to me. 178064 S&W 60 38Special+P 3" TALO 5 RDS : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

To the OP, it's not rare, just a Talo version of the regular 60 Pro that they for some unknown reason got S&W to make in 38 only instead of the normal 357/38. No other differences, hope you got it cheap.

Ok-thanks for all of the input. Its a Talo edition. Don't know if i got it "cheap" since thats a relative term but it was $619.00.

I just can not get over the look of the angled ejector shroud.

Seems like a screaming good deal to me, a savings of about $150 compared to the .357 version. Most people shoot Specials in these anyway.

I put about 200 rounds thru it this morning and as i thought it was a fun little plinker. Accurate and easy to shoot. I think this platform is much better for .38 than .357. I also brought my 686 SSR and could not get over how accurate it is.

I like the look of those guns and I think the price is reasonable. I have a 640 no dash. 38 special is just fine for what that gun was designed for.

These TALO exclusives are all over the place now and if you can buy one for under $700 it's a good deal. Though not quite as versatile as the standard 38/357 Model 60 Pro, I agree that most will never put 357s through one. Those that do will not shoot a lot of full house 357s thru it as it's not pleasant to say the least. I think you have a neat little revolver for a good price, that you will enjoy immensely.

I didn't know these were available. My S&W 686 3" and Ruger GP100 3" are .38 special only and I love them.

I had one of the Model 60 Pro Series Talo revolvers in .357mag/.38 special and sold it because I wanted to only have revolvers in 38 special (I'm not sure why I bought it to begin with other than I really liked it and thought that it would NEVER be made in .38 special only). I am particularly found of 3" barrels.

I'm now in the process of negotiating to purchase one of these so I'm so glad to have run across this thread!!! I've been wanting another J frame.

I really think they are cool. Once one comes to grips with the fact that they will never shoot .357's out of this platform (at least not comfortably or accurately) then these little Pro's in .38 make great sense and are fun to shoot. i will probably also carry mine in the winter.
I ran a box of federal 110 Hydra Shoks thru it this morning and they were easy to shoot, accurate, and probably hitting close to the advertised 1,000 fps out of the 3 inch barrel. I carry these in my j frames.

It's not my cup of tea, but I'm sure it's a nice revolver.
I prefer my J frames in .38 Special, .32 S&W Long, and .32 H&R.
Not crazy about shooting .357s out of something so light.

I saw that exact model at a LGS this week, he had $669 on it and I walked away, but it sure felt good in the hand. But I have a 60-3 three-inch due in any day, and that will have to keep me company. I like the TALO gun but not for $700 OTD!

I have a 60-4 3" that is .38 Special only. That's why I bought it...it feels better to me than the heavier 3" 38/357 models.

You have a great gun there...enjoy!

Mine is current production/overrun/whatever because it has the IL but still, it's a 3" .38 Special so I was happy to find it. Several 4" .38 special recently on GunBroker (with IL) but this is the only 3" one I found. I'd LOVE a second one.

With the hot .38 Sp. and .38 Sp +P offerings from Buffalo Bore, you can get very snappy performance in a .38-only revolver. Magnums in a J-frame never made sense to me.
