Default Question about S&W 500 rear sight

I'm not having much luck searching this topic,

My brother and I are going to the LGS to look at a lightly used 500 with a red dot scope on it.

Trouble is, the factory rear sight is not included and he is not sure if he will like the red dot or not as neither of us have had a red dot on a revolver yet.

So, I have been poking around sites like Brownells and seuch looking for a replacement rear sight for the 500. I see we can get rear sight assemblies for K/L and N frames, but no listings for the X-frame.

Question is, do the other frame size rear sight assemblies fit on the X-frame?

If not, can any of you point me to a source where we can get a factory rear sight assembly? I had zero results on GB looking for used as well... Nothing on the S&W factory website either...

Side note: My 460 came with 2 different profile rear sight assemblies. I am guessing the 500 would have as well?? Is that correct?

Thanks

They all use the same sight, the difference is the blade installed. Call S&W, 800-331-0852 and order one.

I think I'd remove the red dot & mount a regular scope on it.
Then I'd sell the red dot to recover some of the money.
But that's just my opinion - I like crosshairs.

With a nice scope, he'll be able to shoot accurately farther than open sights - then he'll get the full potential from that gun.

And then he can kill a deer with a handgun before you do.
And then he and I can rub your nose in it.
