Small and large frame 629s?

I thought all 629s (new and old) were N frames.

I believe the new one is a model 69
A 5 shot L frame.

So is the Op asking about the N frame or the L frame?

I saw photos of it a week or so ago, but can't quite decide what to make of it. Looks like fluted barrel in a rather more pleasing profile than some of their lighter weight 629 PCs. So why not a fluted cylinder?

The under gun light would be primarily for hog hunters, I guess. Too far forward for "defensive" use.

The cantilevered bolt-on upper rail just doesn't make sense to me. It's already drilled and tapped on the top strap. Why not use that? Or do an integral rail or mount on the barrel. Maybe low enough that a reddot could co-witness the iron sights?

I don't dislike it right off the bat, but it just seems like there's more to be had along these lines.

Probably one of those revolvers that I'd buy used, given the opportunity, but not something for which I'd go searching.

The new Model 69, on the other hand is fairly exciting! And leading to dreams of the same in .41 Mag...
