Default Model 25 advice

I am a pre-lock junkie, but I want a Smith 25 in 45 Colt, but do not want to deal with the over bored throats. So I am considering a 25-9 or 25 classic. Is there any difference in the quality of the two? I have seen posts here with fo.ks very ahppy with the classics. Any advice or pros & cons would be appreciated

A 25-5 that is not P&R will not have the overbored throats. I'm not sure what year P&R was discontinued, but there are older threads that explain when that happened and the change was made to more modern dimension throats. I have one from about 1989, bought it new. Very accurate.

The 25-9 has the endurance package the 25-5 lacks if that is of interest to you. I've not shot the new Classic series of revolvers, so can't say. Here's a look at the 25-9 I bought late last year:

Strengthened lock work and longer cylinder stop notches.

Bill mentioned the 25-7. They are fine shooters, but a little more difficult to find than the 25-5.

Where have you been? Mine is a 25-5 that's not pinned and my throats are fine. Actually, it was the pinned barrels that had this problem. I would love to find a 25-9.
