Looking to acquire a Model 27-2
I realize this has probably been beaten to death already, but....
I am thinking of adding a Model 27-2 to my collection. I have found two that interest me. Both are 6" models with target triggers, target hammers, and white outline rear sights. One looks to be in very nice shape, while the second has some common usage signs. Both sellers tell me their gun locks up tight and both seem to have small turn lines.
What would be an average ballpark value for these two guns given the current trend? Would a 3.5" or 4"" M27 be more fun to shoot?
I have a 4" Model 28 and I enjoy shooting it. Never shot a 6" M27 before.

Since you have the m28 4" I'd go for the m27-2 6" or get both.
I'm thinking owning each model in 4", or 5"/6"/6 1/2" & 8 3/8" that's my dream. I'm not even close or will I live long enough to do it.

Does the nicer one have box, papers, and tools?

My 6" M-27 is the nicest shooting handgun, I've EVER shot.

Not sure about box and papers on the nicer one. The seller is closing his gun store in Florida, and is selling this M27. He called me last night, but I was in the garage reloading, and missed his call.
I am looking for "fair" prices for a nice 4" or 6" M27. I inadvertently offended a fellow on this site last week when I tried to buy a gun he was selling. I would like to avoid that on the M27 purchase.
I talked with my LGS during lunch. I was told they took a nice M29-2 on consignment last Saturday, after I had left the store. I left with a M29-2 that may be unfired and with the original box and paperwork. An account of this transaction is posted here ["My new Model 29"]. I am going by to look at this other M29 today. If it is priced right, I may not be buying a M27 after all. If I buy this one today I will have 7 M29s in my collection. All are -2 except for one 4" M29 (no dash S prefix) I own.

If GB is any kind of usable measure, I think $750 for the nicer 27-2 would be fair if it doesn't have the box, etc. Probably $850 with the box.
These prices are probably on the low end of what people are asking on GB, but it's what I would want to pay. I recently bought a really nice 6" nickel 27-2 with box for $700. It's one of the transition guns.

I posted another thread on this M27 in the 1960 to 1980 area. The seller tells me the gun dates back to the mid 60's. The serial number is N6943XX.
I talked with the seller last night. He is asking $995 + shipping. I told him $900 shipped was all I could go. The gun is nearly perfect. It has all of the bells and whistles as well as the original box, paperwork, and tools.
The seller said he had to think about my offer and he would call me back today. I guess we will know later on.
The M29 mentioned didn't pan out. The gun was not that nice, and the consignor had it priced too high.

Looking to acquire a Model 27-2
A few months back a very nice nickel 27-2 with a 4" barrel and 3Ts but no box came up on gunbroker. The nickel finish had zero nicks and only the finest of scuffs that you really have to get the right angle on to even see. It had a buy now price of $650. I asked the seller if he would do free shipping if I hit the "buy now" button. The seller replied with a "yes." A few days later and a $30 FFL transfer fee and she was mine. I feel like I got a very good deal.

It seems my offer of $900 shipped is too high. I was thinking $860 for the gun (with the extras) and $40 for shipping. I also didn't realize the 6" gun was not as popular as the 4" gun.
Once again you guys have offered good advice. Thank you.

That serial number isn't right for a mid 60's gun. Closer to 1980.
If it really is a mid 60's gun and all original, I'd work hard to get that one. It would have a serial number beginning with S2XXXXX.
