329 Broke?!? no fire in single action- double seems fine
So I let my buddy fire off a couple rounds in my 329pd. I suggested trying single action and it wouldnt fire. It will lock back in single action like normal, but the absolute smallest amount of pressure on the trigger will drop the hammer, but not fire. The double action spins the cylinder fine and as well as when cocking the hammer back in SA. Any idea what would cause this to happen in SA and not DA? It will likely go to a gunsmith no matter what- just cant decide if its worth the potential wait time to send to factory or have a good, local shop take care of it.
Thoughts?

Try taking the grips off, and checking the strain screw - (Its the little screw at the bottom of the grip frame that pushes against the mainspring) make sure it is tight against the mainspring. It may have worked loose under recoil, and would explain the very light trigger pull.

Check the FAQs at the top of the front page for "Push-Off". That's what you have. More mainspring tension will just make it worse, not fix it. Don't believe it, read the sig. line.

A trip to S&W won't cost you anything out of pocket and will take 8-10 days.
I followed the FAQ to the push-off section and the fix looks pretty straight-forward. But I'm wondering how the trigger gets rounded off like that in the first place. I've around 3K rounds through mine and the SA trigger is pretty nice.

Are you saying that it would fire in DA use? If it didn't, I'd agree the tension screw is a good place to start looking. (It's a good idea to check all the screws frequently/after use in high recoil revolvers.)
