Can anyone date my Model 28 please??
Hello everyone!
I just got my 4" S&W Model 28-3 Highway Patrolman back from being reblued. I will post pictures tomorrow when I get my wood grips on the mail. The serial number is N959XXX Is this enough information to date this handgun? I got this revolver back in 1990 at a gun show here in Tulsa from a table full of approximately 100 or more model 28s that were retired Oklahoma Highway Patrol revolvers when they changed over to the model 5906 9mm. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

The SCSW says...
N900000_ _ _1982 - 1986 with the highest known range of N97xxxx at 1986.
So I would guess 1985/86.

Heck I was going to kid you & tell you that if I wasn't already a happily married man, I'd sure like to date her.............. A good 4" .357 carry gun is always handy......... and if it shoots sweet & carries well, you just might be carrying her for the next 20 years or more............ which makes for a right nice marriage.... & it'll never mind if you get a 2nd pistol to back it up either...............

lol @ Da Gimp when I wrote that out I was actually thinkng the same thing! I do have another very nice .357 to back her up. I sweet 4" 686-3 that I have recently aquired. I have always been more of an "automatic guy" but after I had my 28 refinished and bought the 686-3, I am starting to get the revolver fever! Next, I would like to buy a 4" Model 66. I'll post a pic of my 686-3 for some eye candy! Thanks again fellas!

Watch out Zee, the revolver thing can be very addictive. When I got back into S&Ws and joined the forum I bought a M28 and a M686. Here I am now a few years later with many more and still looking.
