Kudos to S&W, 13 Day Turnaround
A couple of years ago I purchased a 640-3. Brought it home, loaded it, and stuck it in a safe that was its intended destination. Three weeks ago I took it out and noticed I had a canted barrel (15 degrees to port). Bundled it up and sent it off to S&W.
I had been reading about the significant delay in repair work at the factory and I despaired when my gun would come back. Yesterday morning my son called and said "you have a package from someone called SAW." Yup, 13 days from shipping to repair to receiving. I consider this excellent service.
Just wanted to share my feelings about the good service S&W provides.
P.S. the repair was perfectly executed!

+1 on that.
I had a similar experience - fast turnaround - on a 'new-to-me' 66 back in December. It only took a couple weeks including ship times. I was very impressed.

When I have had to use their services, 3 times in many years, I have always been highly satisfied with it. Thanks for posting.

Funny...I just sent in my 12yr old 342PD for a canted barrel (sleeve)...S&W received it on the 9th of April and I got it back on the 22nd. It is fixed and the sights are dead on now! I'm very happy with S&W's customer service!

Thanks for sharing your stories, I always like to hear about good outcomes.
The Web is a significant tool for communicating but I see far more time taken discussing bad experiences than good. It is a shame, really.

I've noticed that typical turnaround time for warranty work is within 2 weeks. It's the non warranty stuff that has the slow return. BUT I sent a 49 in to have it re timed and b/c gap adjusted February 1st (this is non warranty as the gun is from 71 or 72). Was quoted the typical 10 month time and when I called them a few weeks ago to check the status of it, I was quoted another 4-6 months. I stayed home this Tuesday from work (playing hookie of course), and I got an unexpected fed ex delivery! Yup, my 49 was done! They also replaced the extractor rod to correct endshake. So that took less than 3 months, which I was actually extremely happy with since I didn't expect to see it until fall. Maybe they're getting caught up finally?

Thank you for taking the time to post a positive experience with S&W. We need EVERYONE who has had a positive experience to post. Sometimes, the number of complaints can lead us to believe that there is some terrible, across-the-board problem at S&W that is simply exaggerated by the fact that it SEEMS that we read from only people with bad experiences.
Thank you.

Same experience here. A few weeks ago my newly purchased mint circa 1990's 66-4 with the 2 1/2" barrel had the thumb latch break off. A call to S&W, FedEx pick up, and returned with the new style latch in less than two weeks. Outstanding service

It's like this everywhere. When most people are happy with a product, they leave it at that and enjoy. On the flip side, when someone has an issue they feel compelled to write a review or tell everyone about it. Unfortunately the happy ones usually don't bother with reviews etc.

Must be revolvers. My 1911 has been there 6 weeks Monday. It's "being evaluated". It has a broken plunger tube. On a side note, I just picked up a 625 PC and it's pretty sweet.
