For a crisp 629-2 longtom, nice box, some papers, no tools and the original box of ammo. This one fits right in around here.
I forgot to mentioned its been shot a few times .
Thanks for looking

Nice shillelagh. Looks like it's in really good condition. Box code says it shipped December 16, 1988. Not to many of those, the dash-two was only around for a year.

Long barrels are truly under appreciated these days but I think they are some of the best looking of the bunch!

Thank you,
You wouldn't by chance have any production numbers for the dash two's?

It was a standard catalog item and a popular revolver. Just guessing, but based on yearly production figures that I've seen for similar S&W revolvers, I'd say something like 5000. Would not be surprised if it was more. The 686 was used by law enforcement here and abroad, and that's always good for production.

Thanks for the info.
Sorry, not trying to be rude. But how does the 686 tie into the 629?

Though certain models almost look identical, the 686 is a L-frame and the 629 is the larger N-frame. They do share in common most of the internal parts: hammer, trigger, main spring, rebound spring, other innards. Grips will not interchange.
