Default Honest 686 question

Ok so I own two newer 686 4 inch barrels. One is my play gun and the other is currently getting hand engraved by a famous gun smith. I was bouncing around looking at 3" 686's to carry and watched the Hickok45 video on them. He claims it to be really accurate. I believe him but are they actually that accurate or is he just a good shot? Thank you for the input.

They really are that accurate, and he really is a good shot. No gun will shoot for you, but if you do your part, the 686 will deliver.

I don't have one but I can tell you that I have watched a video with Hickok45 shooting a 642. If I remember it correctly he hit a target at 80 yards with it. So I'm sure he is a great shot, but I would rather take feedback from owners here then him because he IS that good.

I agree with Clevolver. The guns are very accurate, its just up to the shooter to do there part.

If they weren't accurate, it wouldn't matter how good a shot he is...

686s in general are accurate revolvers. If your question is if the 3" is more accurate than the 4" or 6", than the answer is no. Not that it is any less accurate. The 3" does balance really well and that may help someone shoot better, but the gun itself should not be more accurate.

I am impressed with mine. It has nice weight and great balance. The TALO grips that came with mine though did not fit my hand, so I changed them out for some Ahrends that did (made a ton of difference).

There is nothing magical in an 8 3/8 or 10" barrel that makes it more accurate; you've increased the sight radius which makes it easier to shoot accurately . So given a like quality of barrel, a 3" will be just as accurate as a 10"; now muzzle velocity is another story....

I have a 3" 686+ and it is very accurate. It is one of my favorites to shoot. I carry it with confidence due to the accuracy. On my short list is one with a 5" or better barrel length.

My 3" 686 CS-1 is a fine shooter and very well balanced.

I have owned and shot handguns since the Spring of 1967. In my experience, with very few exceptions handguns are more accurate than 98%-99% of the handgun shooters. Unless there is something mechanically wrong with it most every gun will shoot better than you do.
