Default Customer service

Does there seem to be a cavalier attitude in the customer service department? I purchased a new 642 Pro because I liked the idea of the moon clip option, however the gun was packaged with the wrong clips, turned out they were for a 9mm J-frame!
To make a long story short, I was told by S&W service that they would send the proper replacements, that was over 3mo. ago and I still don't have them, now they say they aren't available. that's BS because they package them with a new gun.
Obviously they won't take the high road and take care of customers anymore!

Is it possible the parts department is simply out of them right now?

That's what they say, but how do they manage to include them with new guns? I guess they feel it's more important to sell more than to take care of those already purchased!

Huntrfishr: Here's a stupid question: can you even shoot that gun without moon clips? If not, I'd be hugely bummed. I have a bunch of guns, both pistols and revolvers, but never anything that used moon clips.

Yes you can shoot it just fine without moonclips, if you need some to hold you over until S&W gets back to you go here - S&W J-Frame .38/357 Mag .025" 5 Shot, SS : S&W J-FRAME MOONCLIPS | Brownells they're expensive but you'll need more than the 3 S&W gives you anyway.

Default Moon Clips

Yes you can, the cylinder is machined just enough to accept the clip leaving a bit .020 longer so it still supports a bit of the cartridge rim without a clip in place. Pretty slick, that's why I paid the extra bucks for the Pro!

Default More Whining about Moon Clips.

I realize that, but that's not my point, I only bought it because of that feature, if I just wanted to shoot it or use speed loaders for carry gun re-loads I would have continued to carry my 340 PD or one of the other J-frame guns I already have!

Like I said, order more as you'll need them anyway. 1st thing I did when I bought my 442 Pro was order a couple of sets of those clips. All parts from the S&W store take forever to ship out, it's not just your order.

I don't think the OP has a problem in finding moon clips for his revolver. He is mentioning how he bought a product that did not have everything in the package that was supposed to be there. Mentioning how customer service is not responding to his request. He didn't get everything that he purchased and that is wrong.

The clips were packaged with the new guns many moons ago, when they were readily available. Unpacking a finished product would create severe accountability problems.
