Default 19-5 Gift from my Dad

Thought I would show some pictures of a 19-5 my father gave to me. He was a policeman Oklahoma Highway Patrol, deputy Sheriff, Under Sheriff, and Sheriff. About a week after being elected sheriff a man my dad didn't know came to the office and told him he had voted for him and would like to engrave a pistol for him in honor of being elected sheriff. My dad gave him this 19-5 and a set of handcuffs. Time wore on and my dad figured he had just lost a handgun. About a year later same man shows up and gives my dad this handgun and handcuffs. About a year ago my dad gave them to me and I in turn will give them to my son.

Beautiful job of engraving . . . what's the old saying? . . . rewards come to those who wait . . . or something like that.

That will certainly be a nice heirloom (and a good story) in years to come.

I am generally not a fan of engraved guns, but this is beautiful. Bugger is it can't be fired anymore

Whoa. That has to be one of the most beautiful snubbies I've ever seen.
Those cuffs are incredible! Never seen the likes of those.
What a wonderful gift!
Hope you and your Dad and your boy have a fabulous Father's Day!

My dad kept an old loaded revolver in his top dresser drawer. I looked at it probably when I was 7 or 8 years old. I did not handle it though. I just knew better. It was a 1919 shipped 6" M&P. ( I got it lettered.) He was in has late 80's, and gave it to me. (in my 50"s) I shot it, and that started my Smith interest. It wasn't a safe queen! Dad passed at 94. About 2 years ago, I made the decision to give it to my oldest son. He is 33. He is proud to have it. I did keep the extra set of diamond target grips that were as new. Bob
