Default Found a 617-2 6" Locally

Hey all,

Found this on consignment at the local hardware store whilst on fire standby here in Eastern Oregon. Alas, all my ammo is back home so I'll have to wait to shoot it. Looks like it's been shot but well maintained. I'm hoping to use it as a training platform for the girlfriend, but a bit worried that the 6" will be too heavy. I'm also toying with the idea of adding a compact red dot like the RMR or Deltapoint--anyone have suggestions in that regard?

Pretty sure you can still buy 4" barrels for the 617 ,
If the 617 is too heavy consider either a Model 18 or a 34/63 J frame 22.

If those are too heavy the 317 should fit the bill and if that is too heavy American arms makes a baby derringer.

If this gun is found barrel heavy, try crossing your thumbs. You'd be surprised how that firms everything up. It is working for me after reading about it elsewhere.
