GUN FOLKS,
Any one out there know the history behind a serial number prefix of AHJ? This one is on a Model 29-3, 44 Rem mag. Thanks in advance.

In the early 80's S&W transitioned to a 3 Alpha character prefix for s/n's. The AHJ series was used in the first 6 months of 1985, The range was from AHA in Jan. to AHS in July. This does not always indicate when the individual firearm was built or shipped, but when the # was applied to a frame.
