Default $10 S&W!!!

I'm "that guy" that never wins anything. This past weekend the range/store I belong to had a "firearms festival"-music, vendors, k9 demos, food, "jump" house for the kiddies, etc. They were also doing giveaways, on the hour, winner has to be present. I had about 30 minutes before I had to head to work but I filled out a raffle ticket anyway. The noon raffle came up and I won a box of Magtech 9mm amm, woohoo-I was happy.

As I'm just about ready to leave I walk by the table where they were doing a raffle and I hear my name mentioned. I walk up and tell them so. The guy says "congratulations you're our first gun winner". I was speechless (a rare thing for those that know me). Turns out I won a new 642. There was an hour backlog on the background checks so I'll pick it up today. I say it's a "$10 S&W" because that's what I had to pay for the background check, haha.

Wanted to share my good fortune.

Congratulations!!!! Trade the 9 m/m bullets for .38s and with your luck I'm sure someone will give you a holster and you are good to go. Or maybe you will win a 9 m/m pistol and a box of .38 bullets. Larry

You can't call it a $10 S&W, because you had to buy the TICKET! Congratulations! That stuff rarely happens in our lives. I won $1,000 in a 50/50 drawing years ago from a motorcycle club selling tickets. Went to pick up the cash at their clubhouse. I did not end up with the full amount, because drinks were on me. Nice bunch of people. Bob

Nope, no fee for the ticket lol! I picked up a full size M&P 9 last month so that's good for the ammo and Cabela's had 100rds of Winchester .38spl 130gr fmj for $43 that I grabbed yesterday.

$10 background check? $25 here in Nevada. Why should it cost anything? Oops, I know, I'm being unreasonable.

Can't beat free guns, Congrats! (or almost free).

And the 642 is a very good carry gun too.

Default First.....

First thng - What a cool range/store you have. That's a great PR idea and making everybody welcome including the kids is top notch. Even if you didn't win anything, it was cool.

Second thing - Congrats! What a great day!!!

Rub it in, people! Guess that's what happens when there is no state, county, or city income tax. Back in NYC, we paid both state and city. I'll be "grandfathered in"on my next CCW renewal.

Was the initial $10 tax deductible?

Here in Colorado the state fee of $10 came in to play on July 1 last year (along with mandated background checks on private sales and the 15rd mag limit).

The even "funnier" aspect of this is that I just sold a 442 so I'd have money ready when I come across the 2" or 3" 64 I'm on the hunt for.

Life truly is strange (proven once again lol).

You drive a hard bargain.

I'll double your money right now and give you 20 bucks for it.
I'll even split the cost of shipping with you.

I know my generosity has rendered you speechless.
