Default 38 special & US service ctg

I am new here and was given a 38 special & US service ctg it is a six inch barrel and I am wondering if anyone can tell me about it as I look online and couldn't find much. Thank you in advance

Looks like a pre-war Smith. Probably what was called the M&P for "Military and Police". Evolved into the famous K-frame Model 10, versions of which are still made to this day. You might have a better response if you post in the "1896 to 1961" forum.

Yes, I think that it's a pre-war gun also. In fact it appears to be pre-WWI.
