Bead Blasted Finish
If I use lead away cloth to clean cylinder rings from a bead blasted ss finish, would it hurt the finish?

It might. Is there a small spot where you could test it first, like under the grips or inside the cylinder window?

What he said. Overdoing cleaning with this cloth can effect finish. They clean because they are abrasive to some extent. I use once and a while only on my 625 JM cylinder face to get rid of powder burns. Other than that I do not use it. Bob

It will... eventually. I have a small smooth spot on the frame of my 625 under the cylinder where I put my support thumb. The thumb rests there with no pressure but the matte finish has begun to wear away over many years of shooting and dry fire.

The answer to you question is most definitely a YES. IMO the bead blasted finish on my 625 JM is probably THE MOST fragile finish S&W every put on a revolver. Now that I've seen first hand how delicate this finish is I won't ever be purchasing another S&W revolver with a bead blasted finish.

Scooter, is the 625JM's finish the same as on the Ladysmith .357 Model 60? Catalog only says "matte stainless" for both. That on my Ladysmith does not seem at all fragile despite carry. Have not shot my JM enough to detect anything.
Thanks for your "likes" of my posts.

I have used my home made soda blaster on my 686 CS-1 with no damage to the finish.
