Default Dang! twisted off grip insert in J-frame

I just twisted off ( or more exactly broke out ) the metal screw insert insert in my J frame grips. I had the Smith and Wesson rubber "boot grips" for maximum conceability and want some more highly concealable rubber grips. What is everyones preference? Hogue, Pachmeyer, ? I think I would like some that completely enclose the metal backstrap this time ( like the ruger LCRs ).

Also what is the best place to buy them online?

Thanks .

I'm not sure if there is anything "boot grip" style (2 finger), rubber, and covered backstrap for s&w. But you could use a taurus 85 or similar stock rubber grip. It's all of tha above. Have to drill the bottom pin hole in a different location but that takes all of 10 seconds. Also maybe pop out the taurus emblems and stick some kind of plug in place of then. Ya know, as not to deface your j frame.

Can get them off of taurus website or find them on eBay etc.

Here's my favorite J-Frame Centennial grip:

It covers the entire backstrap with rubber, has a tamer insert, and adds enough length for a pinky. (Extends 0.41" below the frame.) Made by Hogue, these run about $17 from MidwayUSA. They also have a plastic buttcap that prevents cloth sticking and holds the grip on to the frame. It's an ingenious design that is lightweight and has no metal in it.

The target was 10 rounds at 7 yards with 135 +P Gold Dot. This is my carry gun with my carry grips and carry load.

My 36 has banana target grips on it. Prior to that, Pach Compacs. The Pachs really have a good feel to me! Bob

Pachmayr makes several styles of stocks. As bananaman notes, the Compacs (displayed below in this nice photo I'm borrowing from Dale53) cover the backstrap (and give a little more length of pull). Google is your friend for determining best price today, but it might be better to go with one of the many reliable firearms accessory companies frequently discussed here. I often start my personal searches for such things by checking Midway USA and Brownell's.

Another option is wood...

These are made by Altamont and can be had in short, boot grip lengths also.

Wood lacks the small amount of the shock absorbing affect rubber has, however it doesn't grab clothing and looks great!

Just another option...
