My Alaskan in 454 Casull

Had a snubby M-25 in 45 Colt but was advised it wasn't appropriate to shoot heavy 45 Colt loads through it.

I'd call this my most useful handgun. Can be used for anything from plinking to knocking down a bear...

Default 325pd

I traded a saiga 410 and 200$ for this smith 325pd. I was trying to barter into a smith 625 but couldnt get a deal. After I saw this was an airlight model I knew I had to get it. I was unfamiliar with them at the time. I think its an older model with the all black front post. Serial CHZ1898 if anyone can date it.

Default Keep 'em coming!

Here is a Jovino Custom Model 25 in 45 ACP. The Jovino gun shop was cranking out big bore snubbies before S&W figured out that they were a hot item.

So......Who loves BIG BORE Snubbies?-img_20140916_170739_zps9e4ab4ef-jpg

.....sorry for the lint....I guess that I need to actually wipe it down prior to snapping a photo.

Hey nyeti,

quinn is my dad...I found that Jovino in 45 Colt for him, and then this one in 45 ACP for me. I have another Jovino in 44 Magnum that I will be posting later on. They are out there and for sale, you just have to not be shy when they appear. If you are in the San Antonio area, I am sure that one of the members here would let you try one out

If you ever see a Jovino in 41 Mag, let me know. I would love to have one.

Now post up a BIG bore snubbie

I have two 3" + L Frame .44 specials - a 396 and a 696. Recently picked up a 2 1/2" Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan in .480 Ruger. Thought it would make a great backup while bow hunting elk in grizzly country. It weighs 42.8 oz unloaded and 50.2 oz loaded with six 400gr JFPs. For a big ol' ugly thing, it is surprisingly "totable" -- carried it around one day while walking the dogs and forgot I had it on me. It is also reasonably easy shooting -- 385gr to 412gr at at 1,050 and 1,030 fps respectively.

Gun and first six shots checking POI at 9 yards.

.
Loaded cartridge and 385gr powder coated HP -- you can actually put lipstick on a pig.
.

.
Business end of 385gr bullet:
.

.
Twenty five yard group shot (rested) while chronographing (upper group). Adjusted windage right and shot the lower right group offhand at 12 yards -- pulled the first one a little low and left.
.

My snubbies are not collectors items by any means but they have been used as back up while on duty as well as concealed carry.

They have also be used as training pistols - - - the model 19 and the model 66 are heavy enough for new shooters that while using 38 cal wad cutters they eat the recoil and help build confidence ( good muscle memory ) in the students.

The model 60 ( 1 5/8" barrel ) was a back-up when we carried Model 10s with 4" barrels as a primary weapon, then the sheriff's dept. went to a model 66-1 with a 4" barrel as primary so carried the model 66 snubby ( 2" barrel ) as back-up.

The Indiana State police carried model 19s with 6" barrels as primary for several years and when they went semi auto I bought a friends weapons ( both model 19s one with 6" and one with 2" )

As you can see all of them have been put to good use! All have preformed flawlessly!

I would post the pair of Model 66s but the 4" was stolen I will pay a reward for recovery of it Model 66-1 serial # 9K5090

Sorry I can't get the top picture oriented correct but I have tried for an hour and I give up. It is correct on Photobucket but rotates when shown here!

Default How about another Jovino?

This one is the EFFECTOR model, made from a 629 with a 6" barrel. It sure is easier to carry like this....

The hunt is half the fun, I've been years looking for a 4" no dash and look what I scored yesterday! You'll get one partner, keep toe' n the bush and one will pop up out'a know where. I got an idea you know which bush's to kick

I only have two snubbies that begin with a "4". One is a Ruger Super Redhawk with a trimmed barrel, and gets carried a lot, but this is really the more interesting of the two, a Colt New Service from 1916. It originally was a .455 Ely, but sometime before my acquiring of it, was re-chambered to .45 Colt.

It's pure coincidence that once upon a time, back before I realized people like me better sober, my beer of choice was Colt .45!

Had this one a couple weeks and not fired it yet. I did find a part box of Hornady 180gr factory loads that may get first nod.
629 no dash, most likely a MagnaPort shortening on both ends, action job, polished trigger for right hander, rounded hammer spur, and of course magnaported. Working on the grips.

I do have a Jovino (type?) 25-2 and recently found a LH 24-3. The .44 Spcl. is absolutely amazing. I put a set of high end S&W K-RB target stocks on it today and sight alignment is AUTOMATIC. The fit at the top end of the back strap is a little off but it still feels good and points extremely well. Still considering KB Hide Out's if I can get them for my gun. Weird reflection on the barrel on the pic. Help me Keith.

"reasonably easy shooting"? Holy crapolius batman! Your middle finger knuckle and wrist must be made of 440. That's obviously not a plinking gun, but should fare well with a bear. I hope you never have to use it in that type of situation but you are prepared, no doubt.

I'm excited to see this thread still going strong. I'll have some pics of my 24-3 to post tomorrow when my grips come in, didn't see the point in posting pics with some ugly old pachmayrs on the thing.

I'm also curious to now what you all are packing these beauties in.

Guy that sold it to me lost out!

It's a Talo and no lock so it's verboten in the formerly great State of California, but LEO can buy them and so one did - and sold it to me.

It shot left, but old school fix is to bend the front sight, so I did.

Ragged one hole groups after that!

Using 9g Unique under a 255g RNFP for the original 900fps BP load equivalent.

It really is a nice shooter.

Everyday you own a new gun and don't shoot it, its a sin.

629 no dash, most likely a MagnaPort shortening on both ends, action job, polished trigger for right hander, rounded hammer spur, and of course magnaported. Working on the grips.

I originally had this Lobo Leather built for the Jovino but the LH 24-3 fits perfectly. The black holster (S&W marked) is one of 1000 made to be shipped with the LH guns. The Lobo is an open bottom suede lined while the S&W is closed on the bottom and also soft suede lined. The Smith holster is marked BFW (?). I'm not big enough to carry one of these without a coat or large jacket so it will be a winter carry gun. Can't wait to see that gun with new shoes sheep.dog.

Thumbs up Can't believe I missed this...

They are cool, and with the right loads can do most anything you'd want to do. You guys have some great guns, but then, you already know that.

29-4 with Grashorn stags:

A 629-5 that went to another forumite:

And a 629-4, PC version:
