For EDC...if it's not the 640, it will be a bottom feeder. Woods carry will be a 610.

I carry the S&W Alaskan Backpacker 44mag, every day. I keep it loaded with Hornady Defense 44spls. When I go to the woods, I SOMETIMES carry it with 44mags....but usually swap it out for either my Stealth Hunter in a chest rig, or my Ruger Alaskan 44mag. Heavier, but much nicer to shoot 44mags!

Now I am carrying a S&W model 437-2 in a IWB or OWB holsters 90% of the time. Out in the woods I carry my colt 1911 or Ruger single action .45 Colt.

I most often carry my 637-2 Wyatt Deep Cover loaded with Speer Gold Dot short-barrel 38+p 135 gr.
But if the mood hits me and I'm wearing suitable cover clothing I'll carry my 686-4 2 1/2" loaded with either Speer Gold short-barrel .357 135 gr. or Barnes TAC-XPD .357 125 gr. copper bullet.

When I carry an EDC revolver it's usually my Ruger SP-101 in 9mm NATO. For off-the-beaten path, I usually elect one my 610s. A three-inch, or 3 7/8 inch variety.

I carry a semi-auto about 99% of the time. I only carry a revolver when I go into places where I know there are lots of black bears. I carry a 629-2 Classic with the 8 3/8" barrel. I don't have any expectation of ever being attacked by a bear but there are so many it's almost foolish to go into the woods without a gun capable of dealing with that rare bear that wants to cause trouble. I carry my revolver in an El Paso Saddlery 1942 "Tanker" holster.
The semi I carry depends on the situation. Often I only keep a SA XDm .40 in the truck because I don't really go in a lot of places. When I do I carry a Ruger LCP or lately a Taurus PT-11 G2 9mm. I sometimes carry a Sig P-220 and rarely now (because of the recall) a Taurus PT-145 (which is an excellent pistol except for that serious flaw with the safety - I actually dropped mine a couple of times and it didn't go off though - but it is a night stand gun now where it isn't likely to fall anywhere - it shoots extremely well and it holds a lot of .45 ammo for the size of the gun - it really is a great package).

Started with a Makarov when concealed carry first came to MO, then switched to a Glock 26 so I could compete in iDPA with the same gun I carried. Then discovered the pleasure of small revolvers and carried a variety of S&W J frames with 38 Special loads, including a 442 and a 640-1.
But I have recently found that my ageing joints can REALLY enjoy shooting 32 caliber guns, so I now carry a 30-1 that has been reamed to take 32 H&R. It's loaded with the Buffalo Bore 100g +Ps that exceed the energy of the 38 Special FBI load I used to carry. (I also have a 432PD in 32 H&R, but my wife just received her concealed carry permit and decided she likes that gun, so . . . )
The 32s are just so accurate and so tolerable to shoot out of small guns that I've decided I will adopt the well-placed-shot attitude about what's sufficient for self defense purposes. But I do have a Ruger LCR on order in 327 Federal Magnum, which will offer energies way beyond any 38 Special round, depending on the ammo chosen. The well-used LCR I tried recently had the smoothest DA trigger I've ever shot, as is often claimed for this gun - we'll see how a new one does. I would have preferrred a S&W centennial design in 327 (like the 2 1/8" 632 Pro they once made) and would have willingly paid considerably more than the Ruger for one. But S&W apparently thinks the caliber isn't worth making any more, and the ones they did make in the past are so rare and so expensive when found that I just decided to go with the Ruger, which my LGS can order from the catalog and get in a week or so, for under $500. Sorry, S&W.

3" model 64. Currently carry in a SF 568.
I'll be picking up some 5-shot pocket revo soon for cargo shorts times.
Working on losin 2" from the waist, then I'll treat myself to one of these:

My revolvers are carried only about 10% of the time.
When I do carry a revolver for self defense (i.e. excluding woods/hunting), it is usually the 640 Pro pictured below. However, around the house it is one of the three J-frames in the second picture.
My rotation generally includes: Sig "commander" sized 1911 in 45 ACP, various GLOCKs: Gen4 G19, Gen4 G23, Gen4 G27, Gen3 G30, and Gen? G43. S&W: 640-1 Pro, 60, 642-1.
Semi-autos ride in an IWB Crossbreed Supertuck & OWB in various kydex; 640 & 60 go OWB in a Simply Rugged leather holster & 642 in one of several pocket holsters.

My model 36 is my duty back up. I've had it for 18 years and the guy who gave it to me had it for twenty years. A great sergeant and man.

Sometimes one of each. If only autoloader, probably a Glock 19. If revolver, it's my nickel Model 38. Often have a Kel-Tec 3PAT or Kahr .380 in front pocket regardless of what else I'm carrying.

I usually wind up carrying my nickel Model 49 loaded with 110gr Critical Defense ammo. Doesn't take up much room and it's a comfortable caRRY.

Which S&W Revolver Do You Carry Most?
The S&W Revolver for EDC (IWB) is the one I purchased specifically for that purpose...the 638.
It's light weight,
well made,
small size,
comfortable to carry,
reasonable power,
single/ double action,
unlike semi-autos, no feeding issues to contend with,
and 5 ready to go... were the factors that contributed to my choice.

Wheelguns Preferred!
When hiking in National Forests: either a Smith 317 w/ 2" or another 317 w/ 3" and occasionally one of several model 63 stainless kit guns.
For concealed carry, either a model 37 or 637 Smith. I love wheel guns!! However, I admit that during summer, I do carry a Ruger LCP in front pants pocket because it does not show.

638 most of the time. It just sits in its holster and slips into my pants or jacket front pocket. So convenient
When I am not running around late, and wearing pants with a belt 1911 CCO IWB.

Usually, my LCR is what I carry, though my M&P 9c sees a lot of time on my hip as well.
Recently got a M64 2" and will be carrying that as I shoot it better than the LCR.

When I carry a revolver, I CARRY A REVOLVER - Governor, in my CC vest. I carry a Bodyguard .380 the vast majority, simply because of the utter convenience. If I ever become sedentary, the Governor will be my go to.

I earlier posted that, WHEN I carry a revolver, it's a S&W69 4-1/4" 5-shot .44mag. I can now say that I EXCLUSIVELY carry the above .44mag revolver, from pajamas-off until pajamas-on, every day ... in a homemade under-the-shirt vertical shoulder holster. Neither of my two 1911's (a 10mm Kimber Eclipse Custom II, and a S&W SW1911-Pro-Series .45 Super) get carry duty any longer. And my BUG is still my S&W360sc titanium/scandium ultralight .357 mag, carried in my right front pocket.

95 % of the time I carry my 2 1/2" 686 round butt loaded with Federal .357 Magnum 158 gr. Hydra-Shok JHP & 2 reloads in HKS speed loaders. The rest of the time when I need something to drop in my pocket I carry a Bodyguard 380 w/Insight laser loaded with Hornady Critical Defense 90 gr. FXT & 2 extra magazines.

I carry both semi auto (Glock 26 or 17) and this 642 no lock I have had for 20 years:
In this 20 year old holster:
Boy, I know I am rough on equipment, but some of these carry guns look better than guns I have that I don't carry at all, lol.

Currently my rotation is about 50-50 between two little revolvers that are both too old to appear on this page, but since you asked, they are a circa 1949 snub nosed 32 HE and a a late Baby Chief. Either makes me well enough armed to deal with close-up threats. Far away threats give me time enough to flee.

1. I would estimate that I carry a Revolver about 75% of the time.
2. Which S&W do I carry Most? DAO 66 with 3" Bbl
3. What handguns in rotation? 3" DAO 66, 2" DAO 64, 2-3/4" 315 NG, 2.25" SP101, 3" GP100 with adj Sights, 5" Colt Custom XSE 1911, Glock 27.
4. I carry OWB in a Pancake most of the time. The Glock 27 I carry in an IWB. The 1911 I go back and forth between IWB and OWB.
I carried my 315 Night Guard today with 2 Safariland Comp III speed loaders in Big Creek Kydex Speed Loader Carriers. I carry the speed loaders weak side behind my cel phone case at 8 O'Clock. My Pancake holster was strong side at app the 3:30 position. I was wearing a Tee shirt with a square tailed shirt un-tucked for concealment.
I shoot a couple Defensive Pistol Match's a month. I rotate my carry handguns in the match's during the year with my main match handguns. I shoot enough that I do not find rotating between handguns to be an issue.

Mine is just exactly like that one, except for rubber grips and a more experienced appearance. Dates to 1975. It's the first revolver I'll grab, though I'm trying to train myself to carry the 66 2.5". It's a lot heavier, but shoots like a real gun. I can hit anything with it that I can hit with a 4" K frame.
