B-day present for dad
My son Forrest thought he'd take his dad shooting, as an extra special bday treat. Had a great morning at the pit. Him and his 257 and me with a 44. Man can he shoot, come November there won't be a deer safe within a 1/4 mile of his deer stand.
Here he's holding his favorite gun, vanguard in 257wby mag with a 3-9 leupold. And here's a shot of my favorite range toy, 4" 629.
Thanks for looking
Chris

Nice M629. There's not a lot you can't do with a revolver like that. Looks like there's another Smith in the back of the pickup.

Happy B Day. Looks like you had a great day. Doesn't get any better than a shooting outing with your son. I like his hat also.

Thanks kernel,
Yes I'm very partial to the 4" ss, 44 magnums. They are about my favorite, this gun lives in my range bag and gets shot almost weekly. The other gun is a current production 617 it also goes on every range trip.

And all I got for my dad was some ****** tie.....
...Just Kidding, I got him some Grashorn's Elk horn stags. I guess that I need to step up and take him out to the range.
Don't forget to post some photos once deer season hits! We all want to see what he shoots with that 257.

I'm showing this to him, I love stags
Take him shooting, he'll love it.
I've dragged my kids to the range for years, now they take me.
And I couldn't be happier!

Hey ironworker, nice start to the season!! I saw one that size cruising across my front yard Sat morning. I wanted to grab one of the 44s but the neighbors probably wouldn't have appreciated the holes in their houses. Darned thing stopped and looked at me and kept on walking. Wasn't askeered!! Bundle up brother!

Mine is still running. Saw 4 the other day, a big bodied antlered deer gave me a pretty good look. Three big slow bounds out of a clearcut before he was gone, duck soup with the 300 not so much with the scoped 629. Then 3 flags waving at me going the other way. I've got a simple plan that keeps me happy, if I see a deer that I know I'd hit with a rifle but don't even get a shot with the revolver. Than I call that a successful hunt....
Well,
It works for me.

we were demo'ing the Hawthorne Power plant of KCPL that blew up back in 99 or so.......... saw beams that size that were twisted like licorice & eventually we found some that had torn into 2 pieces.......... it shocked the heck out of me............ Some burners working for Spirtas Wrecking out of St. Louis (all the burners were St Louis hands) did all the burning on the demo job, while not members of our KC locals or council........ they were/are the best at burning I've ever seen.
