Default Trying to date a Model 25-5 ,45 COLT CTG,

I hope I'm in the right forum, forgive me I'm a newbie here. I picked up a new revolver for myself and was wondering if someone could help me out dating it since I don't have any books with the serial info. It's a Model 25-5 SN#AJJ 87XX .45 COLT CTG. I'm mostly into pre-50's military rifles, but I do love my Smiths. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Lancer61

Welcome! This one is likely from August or September of 1985. Enjoy!

Lancer61,

Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your 25-5, what barrel length? I have a 4" slightly new than your (AJS SN) and if there is a smoother shooting or more accurate revolver out there, I'd be amazed.

I especially enjoy it at the range with new shooters nearby who have never fired anything except a 9mm striker fired poly semi-auto. They are overwhelmed by the size of the cartridge and mass of blue steel.

Enjoy

Thanks for the info, I thought I would check since an guy near me at the gun show started ranting about how the gun was messed up, different size rounds, ect. and I saw by posts it was the one prior to 1982. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but it its anything like my Mod 28-2(My first Handgun I purchased over 25 years ago) I know I'll enjoy it. I still want to try my Governor also, I need to find some time real soon.

Thanks again and I'll have to put a few post out there about my military 1917, 1937 Brazil and Victorys.
