10-8 cylinder wear
Noticed wear at the cylinder front edge on my early 80's 10-8. I guesstimate 4 to 5 thousand rounds through it.
Normal or cause for concern/repair?

That could be lead plating from shooting swaged or cast bullets. Even if the bluing is being removed by the gases of firing, it's something fairly normal. The only way I know of to reduce it would be to tighten up the cylinder gap by tightening up end-shake.

No concern.
The left arrow points to lead build up and it's probably consistent across all the charging holes (you should see my .22 revolvers). You should also see it above the forcing cone where it's often mistaken for flame cutting. I have a piece of soft copper pipe I hammered flat and made into a scrapper to remove the lead deposits if they ever bother me too much. All copper pennies or smashed brass cartridges also work as scrappers.
The right arrow points to normal finish damage, not related to the other. Maybe some spit or sweat or blood that wasn't wiped off immediately.

The last 2000 rounds fired have been either cast or swaged.
Thanks Scott

This is indicative of nothing more than that the gun needs a thorough cleaning. Some OOOO steel wool and light oil will take care of that in short order and do no harm unless you are exceptionally over zealous. This is a deposit on the finish, not wear of the finish. DO NOT use and form of polish or a Lead remover cloth, these will remove the bluing.
