In a previous thread I asked members what they thought about the Bodyguard M&P .38 Spl. +P as I was expecting delivery on one. Thanks to all who responded and a suggestion was made for me to report on the gun when I received it, so here goes.
Fit and finish was very good with the exception of "slag" on all the laser etched numbers and letters which brushed off and made them readable. Two negatives for me were one, the grips and two the overall ascetics of the gun. The grips were unsubstantial in my large hand and felt "hollow". The overall look is well . . . plain leaning to a bit ugly. A set of Hogue Extreme G10 grips in green took care of both concerns. Now to shooting. Trigger pull is remarkably smooth, on a par with or better than my Ruger LCR and far better than my "J" frames. The first five shots, in my indoor range with a max of 20', using an offhand hold and the iron sights gave me a 1.5" group with the best three @.25" center to center all 2" above POA but centered. The next five were with the Crimson Trace laser and produced another 1.5" group but with one flyer and best three again about .25". However all the laser shots were 2" left and 3" high of POA. Clearly an adjustment of the laser is in order. I used Federal 158 Gr. LRN for the test no +P as yet. Felt recoil was negligible and subsequent flash sight defensive shooting strings showed the gun easy to get back on target giving me fist sized groups consistently.
All in all I like this revolver and at 18 oz. loader weight it will be part of my concealed carry rotation.
