Some kinda .38, but what?
Guy sent me a pic. Knows even less about Smith .38s than I do. Appears to be a 4in. but that's all I know. What is this likely to be? Thanks!

I just messaged him and asked him to do that. Now that I've been doing some reading it does look like a 10. Wants 350... I've been looking for a shooter like that.

BUY IT ! A model 10 w/4" Heavy Barrel will be one of the finest shooters you'll ever encounter. Not too likely you'll ever take any match hardware, but ya never know ! These guns are accurate, reliable, and tough as a rock - I've had several, and every one of 'em shot well.

My 10-6 is pinned. If it's a Model 10, my guess is it's a 10-8 or later.

Yes it's a Model 10-8 or later, my 10-8 from 81 has the pinned barrel, that went away sometime in 82. The price sounds good, I'd jump on it.
I've picked up 3 square butt heavy barrel Model 10s this year. They all ran me ~ $400. Love to find a round butt.
The serial number is on the butt, get us the number and we can estimate the manufacture date.

Others have ID it I think, a 4" heavy bbl. round butt mod. 10.
One sweet shooting six-gun & a dream to pack. If it's for sale anywhere near reasonable I'd grab it.

Everyone needs at least one Model 10. One of the all-time great revolvers. As has so often been said here, everything you need and nothing you don't.

I agree. I have a 10-5, 10-6, 64-6 3" and a 13-4 3". If I had the time and money, I'd try to have one of very K frame fixed sight variant.

Buy it . Good price.
In my opinion four inch K frames are the best balanced revolvers ever made. Lot of fun to shoot. Besides they are beautiful.

Looks like the strain screw is backed out in the lower front of the grip frame. That will need to be seated firmly in place before things will work correctly. It's a very nice looking Model 10.
