Default Pro Series Stamp?

Looking into buying a S&W model 60 pro. I’ve noticed that the newer models no longer engrave the words, “Pro Series” on the side of the gun. When and why did they start doing that ?

I have the model 60 pro, bought it new spring of 2013. it has the pro series on it. I guess they used to have little hunter engraved on the earlier models.
but to answer your question, haven't heard of that till now

Make sure you aren't actually looking at the special run of .38's they made for a distributor. Exact same gun all the way around but chambered in .38. I have no idea why they wouldn't just chamber them in .357 but they did, and I believe they lack the pro series designation.

The one I was looking at in particular (gunbroker auction #458122483) is stamped as a .357 on the barrel but doesn't have Pro Series on the side. Interesting...
