Default An old friend has come home (640-1)

I bought this gun, new, back in the 90's and ended up selling it to my brother a few years later. This year, at a Christmas party, he asked me what I thought the 640-1 was worth, as he was thinking of selling it. Long story short, he stopped by, today, and traded it back to me for a Mini-14, some extra mags and ammo.

I was excited to see him arrive with the original S&W blue plastic box. I didn't even remember giving that to him. Back then, I usually threw the boxes away! Unfortunately, upon further inspection, the box label had been removed. I pointed that out to my brother and he said that I had given it to him that way - I must have ripped it off! If only I'd known then what I know now, oh well. I'm just happy that I was able to get back one that I had let get away, years ago.

One thing I've always done is keep a file folder of my firearms transactions - receipts, purchase permits, etc.. After a little digging, I found the receipt for this gun, purchased on 6/14/97, for $360. I thought that was pretty cool.

It's beautiful outside, today, even if it is only 20 degrees. So here are the obligatory pictures - enjoy.

That's looking like a forged trigger -- sweet.

Congrats...again.

Love the 640-1s. Have a pair of them...one for each hand (actually, one for my better half)

Surprised -- looked forged from that angle. Who cares? Several MIM triggers here and no problemo.

Congrats on getting it back. A bonus is that it was kept in beautiful condition. I've let a couple of special ones go that I'd love to get back. Hang on to it this time.

In my opinion, that is one of S&W's best revolvers. Congratulations and I hope you hang to it this time. You're very lucky to get a second chance.
