My last gun of 2014
The Big Brown truck dropped this one off on December 31st.
Some of you might recall that late last spring I came across a Nickel McGivern model 15 that was used but super clean. In the process of researching pricing, I stumbled on a Blue McGivern model 15 that was serial number 15 (I am weak) and ended up with both of them.
Model 15 Ed McGivern Performance Center revovlers
Ever since I have been looking for a fair deal on the third variation, the color case hardened Model 15 McGivern. A few weeks ago I found it and even though the Christmas presents for my Nieces had wiped out my sock drawer money I decided it had the be a 2014 purchase.
This one will remain unfired since leaving the factory. The Nickel model is going to be my shooter.
Perhaps it is a Colt SAA thing, but I have always liked firearms with CC frames. Turnbull did a great job on these for Smith and Wesson. It is obvious that S&W also had him do the hammers and triggers so that the coloring matched the frame properly.
I just think this was a beautiful piece to end the year with.

Wow. how cool is THAT?
Coltssa, are you one of those people who belong to the "gun a month" club? If so, tell me how I can quit, I've been a member far too long.

I guess you have a C&R or FFL? The UPS Truck doesn't bring cool guns to my humble abode. Way to finish 2014 strong!

No I let my FFL go. The drop off was at my buddies pawn shop, but I already knew it was on the truck for delivery and went there for lunch

Not one gun per month.
In my state you can buy as many as you want each month, not just one.

The Heritage series started me on my guns with the same serial#..026.
When I saw the CC guns in the Rep's case, my heart sank. I love the case coloring from Turnbull, also, and bought the entire series…..
Here is my Model 15…factory did a special 6" barrel like on your McGivern gun, but also sent me the 4" barrel….

You don't often see case coloring like that in the 1980 to Present section.

Thanks
It is never a conscious attempt to outdo myself, though this has been a very S&W year. Sometimes things just fall into place.
With close to 4 decades of collecting behind me, most of the more common, run of the mill firearms are already in my possession. So in these more recent times I tend to add the more interesting pieces.
Next year I am going to go the tjpopkin route and look for the CC model 15 and 17 to go with them.

Those revolvers are beautiful. I love the photo of the three together. Where did you find them at an auction site or estate sale? thanks.

Considering only 150 of each finish were made, I was shocked at how many of these McGivern model 15s are available for sale.
In the 8 or 9 months since the deal on the nickel one was offered to me, I have spotted a couple dozen available at various sources. I just waited for the right deals to pop up
One famous auction site has 5 of the McGiverns up for auction right now.

I know the passion for the CC guns. I ended up with 7 of them, all in the same Serial#.
