Don't understand why everybody used Hoppes #9 all these years and still has rifling, bluing, and metal still on their guns
Makes me wonder if manufacturers just looking to sell a better mouse trap!
I started using Rig #2 Oil 36 years ago and still use it every day, and as stated on the label it won' harm wood, plastic, rubber, Bluing, Nickel, etc. and smells pretty good. I like that it cleans, lubes and protects and there is no need to completely remove a solvent before applying a lube & protectant.
I still do use Hoppes #9 to soak really filthy and fowled parts in before scrubbing them on a new to me (old gun) acquisition. I have
never had a gun or its finish ruined by Hoppes #9 and that even includes Nickel (before I read it would dissolve the finish).
