Default 329PC - The recalled ones of 2004

Wondering if anyone had one of these...It was 1of100 edition ....Mine had the serial number of BVA0082....Never fired it and only had it a short time before a frantic call from S&W insisted I return it.
While it took some effort, I managed to get a then unreleased S&W .500 with a 4 inch barrel as a replacement. And very nice S&W aluminum case....So, I'm not all that disappointed today....

Did S&W ever replace it with a similar model? Did anyone keep one? Or fire it?

Pulling out an old sale receipt got me thinking about it again....

Thanks for your time, Rick

Interesting, Rick.

I totally don't remember that production run. What was the reason for the recall?

I may be wrong, but I believe it was for the barrel/frame cracking issue.

Yes, I believe that there was also a problem with the cylinder coming loose because of a "mis"engineered extraction rod....I was adamant about keeping it, figuring it would be worth a bundle some day. S&W seemed to think the danger it might cause would cost them a bundle someday.
How I leveraged an early 4" .500.....:-)

Think it was also a "Performance Center" gun as well....But not sure.

Wonder if anyone managed to hang on to one?

Thanks for the responses!!

I just picked up one of the affected 329PC guns & knew the frame was cracked when I got it. It's off to S&W today & I want three special built .22 LR revolvers in return. My negotiation skills are normally pretty good & I can always insist that it's my gun, not theirs and I want it back.
